The compost tea brewers shown above create a mix called SoilSoup. The correct description of SoilSoup would be Actively Aerated Compost Tea. Please note that an aerated compost tea should not be compared to a non-aerated compost tea. A non aerated compost tea does indeed provide some nutrients to the roots, but does not include many beneficial soil microbes which were originally part of the solid compost. The beneficial microbes in a healthy compost pile are aerobic , which mean they require oxygen to stay alive. An actively aerated compost tea is far more valuable than a non-aerated tea because it provides both nutrients and an abundance of beneficial soil microorganisms. During the brewing process, the aerobic microbial population multiply by an average of 50,000 times.
